At a conference in Nairobi, Kenya, on June 30, Great Lakes Centre for Strategic Media Studies (GLCSMS) Founder and Executive Director Milton Emmy Akwam was honoured for his global peace efforts.
The conference, convened by the International Women Peace Group (IWPG) Kenya branch, alongside IWPG headquarters in South Korea, was held under the theme “Women Leading Peace: Connecting Women for Sustainable Peace in Kenya.”
It featured the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with Centre for Citizen Empowerment Programme (CCEP), Uhaki Paralegal Network (UPN), Youth Economic Empowerment Programme (YEEP), and Kenya Alliance for Advancement of Children (KAAC).
Also in attendance were MPs, and Kenyan government officials, peace advocates, among others.
The IWPG chairwoman, Na Yeong Jeon, presented Akwam with an award in “recognition of his outstanding contribution to spreading the spirit and culture of peace through IWPG peace projects in efforts for the realisation of peace and cessation of war.”
In December 2022, tndNews, Uganda, and IWPG signed a long-term cooperation agreement.
